The Graduate Program in Geography (PPGeog) aims at producing and disseminating high-level scientific knowledge in Geography, generating geographic competencies in diverse areas, such as Cartography, Geoecology, Climatology, Geographic Information Systems (GIS, Remote Sensing), Geographic Education, Geomorphology, Cultural Geography, Hydrology, Political Geography, and Urban Planning/Economic Development. The program seeks to train graduates capable of (a) a functional understanding of Geography, (b) multidisciplinary skills to address geographical problems in a diverse and interdisciplinary way, (c) applying high demand geographic research methods for the welfare of society and environmental conservation, (d) critical thinking and communication, and (e) teaching Geography with excellence and adopting inclusive methodologies.
